Privacy Policy
Last updated 10 July 2026
The Daily Profit is a Shopify app that helps merchants understand what their store actually kept each day. To do that, it needs access to certain store, order, and advertising data. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how you can have it deleted. The Daily Profit is a product of Considered Code Pty Ltd ("we", "us").
The short version
- We only collect data needed to provide The Daily Profit.
- We do not sell merchant data. We do not sell customer data.
- We do not use your data to advertise to you or to your customers.
- Shopify order and customer data is used only to calculate your profit and related reports — never for unrelated purposes.
- Data from connected advertising platforms is used only to calculate and display your store's profit and reports.
- You can request deletion at any time by emailing .
What we collect
Depending on how you use the app and what you connect, we may collect:
From Shopify
- Store information — store name, domain, currency, timezone, and plan details.
- Merchant account information — the name and email address of the account that installs the app.
- Order data — order totals, line items, discounts applied, shipping charged, taxes, refunds, and returns. Where Shopify provides them, orders may include customer identifiers; we use these only to compute order-level profit and never to contact or profile customers.
- Product and variant data — titles, SKUs, prices, and per-variant cost (COGS) where you have recorded it in Shopify.
- Payment fee data — gateway and rate information needed to calculate per-order fees.
From connected advertising platforms
If you choose to connect an advertising or marketing platform, we collect the data needed to include your ad spend in your profit calculations: daily spend, campaign, ad, and account identifiers, dates, and related performance metadata.
We currently support Google Ads and Meta Ads, and we add further platforms over time (such as TikTok Ads). The same rules in this policy apply to every advertising platform you connect: we collect only what the profit calculation needs, and we use it only as this policy describes.
From you
- Manual costs — COGS overrides, shipping rules, payment fee rates you confirm, overhead figures (single or itemised), and any other costs you enter.
- Notes — annotations you add to days or periods.
- Support messages — emails or contact form submissions you send us.
From our website
If you join the waitlist or subscribe to updates at thedailyprofit.co, we collect your email address, used only to write to you about The Daily Profit — as promised, sparingly. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing or using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
Automatically
- Usage and diagnostic data — app performance, error logs, and feature usage, used to keep the service reliable and improve it.
Why we collect it
Every data type above maps to a feature. Order, product, cost, and fee data produce your daily P&L. Advertising platform data adds ad spend to that P&L. Notes and manual costs are content you create. Usage data keeps the app working. We do not collect data speculatively, and we do not use any of it for purposes unrelated to providing The Daily Profit.
If a future feature ever requires a genuinely new category of data, we will update this policy and notify you before we start collecting it.
How we use it
- To calculate and display your daily profit and loss.
- To produce reports and features of the app: profit reports, period comparisons, the Archive, and The Morning Brief if you are subscribed to it.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To bill paid subscriptions (via Shopify's billing system).
Advertising platform data
When you connect an advertising account, The Daily Profit accesses the spend and campaign data described above solely to provide the app's reporting features — showing you what you spent and what you kept. This data is not sold, not shared with third parties for advertising, and not used to build profiles of you or your customers.
You can disconnect any platform at any time from within the app; we stop syncing immediately and delete that platform's data as described under Data deletion.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Our use of data from Meta, TikTok, and any other connected platform adheres to that platform's developer and data-use terms.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers needed to run The Daily Profit — for example cloud hosting, database, and email delivery providers — under agreements that limit their use of the data to providing services to us. We may also disclose data if required by law. We do not share your data with any third party for their own marketing or advertising.
How long we keep it
We retain your data while your store has the app installed, because the product's value is its history: the Archive, Notes, and period comparisons depend on retained daily records. Usage and diagnostic logs are retained for a shorter operational window.
Data deletion
On request. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing from the email associated with your store. We will confirm and complete deletion within 30 days.
On uninstall. When you uninstall the app from your Shopify store, we disconnect from Shopify and any connected advertising platforms and stop syncing immediately. Your data is scheduled for deletion 30 days after uninstall — a window that lets you reinstall without losing your history. After that window, your store's data is permanently deleted.
On disconnecting a platform. If you disconnect an advertising platform but keep the app, we stop syncing that platform immediately and delete its data within 30 days, except where it has already been incorporated into your historical daily records — those records remain part of your P&L history until your data is deleted under the rules above.
What we may retain. We may retain limited records where required for legal, billing, fraud-prevention, or compliance reasons — for example invoices or records of a billing dispute. Anything retained is kept only as long as the legal requirement lasts and is not used for any other purpose.
We also honour Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks: when Shopify sends us a customer or shop redaction request, we delete the corresponding data on Shopify's schedule.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access tokens for Shopify and connected platforms are stored encrypted and scoped to the minimum permissions the app needs. Internal access to production data is restricted and logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your financial data with the care you would expect of a product whose entire job is handling it.
Your rights
Depending on where you operate, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, including under the Australian Privacy Act and, where applicable, the GDPR. To exercise any of these, email — we do not make you dig for a form.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
